Youth Ministry

The goal of the Youth Ministry at First Baptist is to reach the youth in our area for Jesus Christ by proclaiming His love and salvation and by demonstrating that love to our world through our actions and through missions/ministry projects in our own community and beyond. Another primary objective is to work with parents to help develop strong spiritual leaders who will become the foundation for God’s church in the 21st century.

The Youth ministry is divided up into four key focus areas: Fellowship, Missions/Ministry, Discipleship, and Worship. Within each area, a Team made up of parents, youth, and our youth minister plan and execute projects which serve to strengthen our youth in order to better reach our world with the Gospel.

Our Fellowship team plans and implements many outings for our youth. Some of these include: biking/hiking trips around our area, camping trips, after-church fellowships, ski trips, lock-ins, etc. These opportunities serve to help build Christian fellowship and friendships within our youth group.

The Missions/Ministry team works to develop plans to help our youth reach into our community and world with Christ-like service. These opportunities include the SBC camps known as Missionfuge, Centrifuge, and Crosspoint, local mission projects to area homeless shelters, service projects for our church members, as well as others.

Our Discipleship team strives to identify the teaching needs of this ministry. They also work to encourage outreach into our community by building on the relationships kids have with others in their school environment.

The final key area of focus within our Youth ministry is Worship. The Worship team works to help encourage true worship by establishing avenues for our youth to express themselves through youth choirs, drama teams, and special youth worship services. These four focus areas do not fully address all of the opportunities available to youth, but we feel that these are the primary fundamentals (the “ABC’s”) that we should be striving for as Christian youth today.

The Youth ministry at First Baptist serves youth and young adults from the 6th grade to the 12th grade. It would be our pleasure to minister to you or your young adult. If you have any questions or comments about the Youth Ministry here at First Baptist, please feel free to E-Mail me at

Yours in Christ,
Harold Horne
